Holy Week Lyrics

I wrote this song unknowingly for Holy week. Only after writing, did I realize that the words fit perfectly. I was sitting on my back porch, trying to write something. It was sunny. I love sunny days, but I couldn't think of anything to write about sunny days. So I thought, if it was stormy and cloudy, what would I write? I would write about hope.

Today was cold and dreary
Tomorrow too it seems
But the rain that falls today
Brings the flowers of tomorrow
Fear is a mighty force
It can kill
Hope is stronger still
It will live
The papers on the table
Herald a coming death
In the the throes of lustful sin
Nothing good seems to happen
Fear is a mighty force
It has killed
His cries were forsaken
Waiting for the wrath to come
And from the holes of hell
A new hope springs forth
Sin is a mighty force
It will kill
But love is stronger still
It will live
Love will win
Today was cold and dreary
Tomorrow too it seems
But the Rain that falls today
Brings the flowers of tomorrow
Fear is a mighty force
It will kill
But hope is stronger still
It will live

Sometimes, we cannot see the end of our suffering. Have hope. Love has won. Sin is in the death throes.
Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” (Matthew 28:10 NIV)
